Although much of Clermont has now been developed and is home to more than 30,000 residents, there are many parts of Clermont that remain relatively untouched. However, the area was not suitable for herding and farming which caused it to sit unused and unoccupied until 1910 when John and Louise Driggors Hammond settled the land.
