downtown_clermont_florida.jpg

Clermont, Florida prides itself on being a city with a small town feel and a high quality of life. The rolling hills, beautiful waterfront, and historic downtown have defined the intimate community for over 100 years.

This community also provides an emphasis on healthy living with features like the South Lake Trail and Olympic Training Center. All of this, in addition to community’s serene environment has made Clermont a popular place to call home, and a destination for recreation, commerce, athletic training, and tourism.

The Promenade will provide a waterfront path and pier at the foot of 8th street. This space will also act as a venue for events such as festivals, music events, races, and regattas.

This project will provide a necessary storm water draining pond to serve western Downtown Clermont. The area will also serve as additional park and event space.

Signage Project

Monument and directional signs will be added to assist visitors in finding key destinations in Clermont from SR 50 and the South Lake Trail.

“Green Streets,” another recommended project, would provide low-impact storm water draining and improve the streetscapes for pedestrians and cycling. These streets would also begin to connect Lake Minneola, parks, and neighborhoods.

New Call-to-action

Landscape improvements, more outdoor dining locations, and community gardens, have also been discussed.

The Vision of Clermont’s Master Plan states:

“Clermont is a place for people, with a great waterfront and quality sense of place, visual character, and image; connected to the greater city and supported by high-performing infrastructure and services.”
