Offering job opportunities, world-famous entertainment, an eclectic downtown, and so much more, Orlando has quickly become one of the best places to live.   Currently, [Millennials make up the largest group of homebuyers](https://blog.eragrizzard.com/hometalk/orlando-florida-named-millennial-magnet-city-in-the-u.s-for-real-estate) seeking the variety of home options in Orlando from townhomes to condos to new construction communities. But it might surprise you to learn that many of these Millennial homebuyers aren't seeking any of those home types - they're on the hunt for historic Real Estate and homes with character.   Why? Here's a closer look at the appeal of the historic [home for sale in Orlando, Florida:](https://www.eragrizzard.com/homes-for-sale-in-orlando) ## The Character  ![interior mid century home for sale](https://blog.eragrizzard.com/hs-fs/hubfs/Orlando/interior%20mid%20century%20home%20for%20sale.jpg?width=4708&name=interior%20mid%20century%20home%20for%20sale.jpg)   Many of today's Millennial homebuyers are searching for a unique home, and they're avoiding neighborhoods where each home looks the same. Instead, they want craftsmanship and charm that is different from their next door neighbor. From original wood flooring to home features difficult to find in today's modern construction - this is what many Millennials are looking for.   [![Orlando Homes for Sale](https://no-cache.hubspot.com/cta/default/481286/388d9dbf-e799-469a-907d-e2abb431f7ff.png)](https://cta-redirect.hubspot.com/cta/redirect/481286/388d9dbf-e799-469a-907d-e2abb431f7ff)   They're also drawn to maintaining the character that these homes add to the city of Orlando. Older homes in Orlando might range from a mid-century modern charm built in the '50s or even a truly historic bungalow from the 1920s. When purchasing one of these unique and character-filled homes, they're helping maintain a piece of their city's historic past, and they get to own a piece of Orlando's history! ## The Opportunity Another drawing factor of these historic homes is the opportunity they provide for renovations. This allows the ability for the best of both worlds - making the home their own with any improvements they choose to make, while still living in a character filled home that offers a piece of the past.   [![New Call-to-action](https://no-cache.hubspot.com/cta/default/481286/9bf897cc-4e3c-4e58-a257-f23a4e2272bf.png)](https://cta-redirect.hubspot.com/cta/redirect/481286/9bf897cc-4e3c-4e58-a257-f23a4e2272bf)   Often seen as a good investment opportunity, the need for improvements and renovations when purchasing an older property is another primary reason for the appeal of the historic home.   ## The Location ![Thornton Park Orlando Florida burrow with popular Real Estate](https://blog.eragrizzard.com/hs-fs/hubfs/Orlando/neighborhood%20walk/Thornton%20Park%20Orlando%20Florida%20burrow%20with%20popular%20Real%20Estate.jpg?width=900&name=Thornton%20Park%20Orlando%20Florida%20burrow%20with%20popular%20Real%20Estate.jpg) Many historic homes found throughout Orlando are located in some of the most convenient and sought-after neighborhoods throughout the city, adding to their popularity among Millennials. While many new-construction communities are found in neighborhoods on the outskirts of Orlando or in neighboring suburbs, historic homes are often found closer to the heart of the city.   Adjacent to Downtown Orlando, you'll find **[Lake Eola Heights, Thornton Park](https://blog.eragrizzard.com/hometalk/a-neighborhood-guide-to-downtown-orlandos-boroughs),** and College Park, all brimming with historic bungalows offering unique character and craftsmanship.   ![mid century moden design](https://blog.eragrizzard.com/hs-fs/hubfs/mid%20century%20moden%20design.jpg?width=3024&name=mid%20century%20moden%20design.jpg)   Living in these communities offers a walkable lifestyle in an established neighborhood lined with canopies of trees and brick streets. Life in these neighborhoods allows for the opportunity to have local dining, shopping, and entertainment options right in your neighborhood - a lifestyle that is highly sought-after by today's Millennial.   A little further outside of Downtown,**[Audubon Park](https://blog.eragrizzard.com/hometalk/video-audubon-park), [Mills 50](https://blog.eragrizzard.com/hometalk/orlando-best-place-to-live-floridas-cool-mills-50-district)**, and **[Winter Park](https://blog.eragrizzard.com/hometalk/-orlando-best-place-to-live-why-winter-park-florida-is-famous)** communities also offer historic homes in charming neighborhoods unique to the rest of the city and offering the lifestyle of convenience and a number of local hotspots nearby.   ![Park Avenue in Iconic Winter Park Florida copy](https://blog.eragrizzard.com/hs-fs/hubfs/Park%20Avenue%20in%20Iconic%20Winter%20Park%20Florida%20copy.jpg?width=1200&name=Park%20Avenue%20in%20Iconic%20Winter%20Park%20Florida%20copy.jpg)   Orlando is home to a way of life that today's modern home buyer is seeking, with historic homes at the top of those home buyers lists!
