EASY PEASY fixes to do before selling your FL home

If you are thinking about selling your home in Florida, you might be brainstorming different projects.

Put on your buyer's hat to help you figure out where to start. Ask yourself questions such as “what would I like to see in a home I’m buying?” or “what were the reasons I bought this home, and are there ways I can enhance those features?”

Unless you have very unusual wishes, your answers should give you a pretty good idea on what buyers are looking for in a home.

If you have been thinking about this topic for a while but you are still not sure what projects to commit to, we have an idea for you. Start with the easy ones!

Here are a few Easy Peasy projects you should take on before selling your home in today's market:

Turn your driveway into a "stayway"

You might not even remember how your driveway looked before when it was clean. You may think it won’t make a difference. Believe me, it makes a huge difference.

Day by day, you’ve been watching your driveway slowly turn different shades. You had time to get used to its new colors. Buyers haven't. Your driveway may be the first thing they will see when they arrive. Make sure it won’t make them want to turn around.

Give your walls a clean slate

If your home's walls are painted a clean, neutral color you don’t have to worry about it. On the other hand, if you have some more eclectic colors or dirty walls, you should definitely cover it with a few layers of paint. Call your friends and family to help.

Pro's Tip: bribe them with pizza!

Lose the time warp hardware

I know what you are thinking - “It’s no big deal. Buyers can change it later to something they want.”

It’s true, you may change it now just so that a buyer can change it again later. But modern hardware can give your home an updated look for a fraction of the cost of remodeling. You only have one chance to make a good first impression. Make it count. Even in the smaller details!

Do your floors measure up?

You don’t want buyers noticing those grape juice or wine stains and missing your home's great features. Buyers will notice everything you might have learned to live with.

If you have hardwood floors, it may need some polishing. Get your tiles steam cleaned and your carpets shampooed. You can hire pros or you can easily rent the "professional" equipment from HomeDepot or Lowe's.

Let your light shine bright

If you have a light switch that is not working properly, make sure to fix it before you list your home. You don’t want buyers thinking there's something wrong with your electrical, just because of a switch that can easily be replaced or fixed.

Don't lose money down the drain

When people spot a dripping faucet they see money going down the drain. Nobody likes to waste money. Present buyers with a well maintained home and give them peace of mind. That's what they want from their new home.

Investing a little time and money upfront can pay off big time in Florida Real Estate. Make sure you are giving the buyers the home of their dreams.
